About Visit Corvallis

Visit Corvallis is a private non-profit organization marketing Corvallis and Benton County as a destination city and targeting conventions, meetings, sporting events, leisure travelers, tour operators and travel writers. We are funded partially by transient occupancy tax through a contract with the City of Corvallis and membership fees.

We are a membership organization representing components of the visitor industry including:

Hotels, Motels, B&Bs, Campgrounds & RV Parks
Convention & Meeting Facilities
Restaurants
Sports Facilities
Tour Operators
Wineries/Attractions
Transportation Companies
Retail and Commercial organizations relating to tourism

Both sources of funding go directly into marketing activities that promote our City as a destination to secure both immediate and future business. Visit Corvallis’ marketing strategy ensures that our media outreach efforts are placed directly into the hands of those who are considering visiting or relocating to Corvallis now and into the future.

The Bureau submits an annual marketing plan to the City as a condition for receipt of a portion of the transient occupancy tax revenues paid by guests staying in our lodging facilities. The lodging community and the City agreed that a transient occupancy tax would be reinvested into marketing the City and thereby creating more tourism. Part of the tax also helps support other Corvallis services. Therefore, Visit Corvallis assists in the production of a tax that helps maintain the quality lifestyle of Corvallis.
